I have an idea, and I am going to start working on it tomorrow. It won’t take a lot of time, it won’t cost a lot of money, and I think it’s going to work. She took the initiative and became someone who starts something and who is prepared to fail along the way if it helps or makes a difference. \\ \\ Last year, 67 web start-ups in San Francisco and New York were funded for what it cost Silicon Valley to fund a third of that number. This is a manifesto about starting, going beyond the point of no return, leaping, committing, and making something happen. \\ \\ **The Seven Imperatives:**\\
 +  - To become aware
 +  - To be educated
 +  - To be connected
 +  - To be consistent
+  - To build an asset
 +  - To be productive
+  - To have the guts, the heart and the passion to ship
+\\ The challenge is getting into the habit of starting. Life is a buzzer box - poke it! Hear what’s needed to make something happen, idea-people to work on it, a place to build or organize it, raw materials, distribution, money, marketing, a thesis, all the other elements are cheaper and easier to find than ever before, which makes the motive force so critical. \\ \\ **Where is the VPS starting? Who is in charge of yeah? There are various kinds of capital: **\\
 +  * Financial capital
 +  * Network capital
 +  * Electoral capital
 +  * Fiscal capital
 +  * Prestige capital
+  * Instigation capital (most important)
+\\ The desire to move forward, the ability and the guts to say yes. I define anxiety as experiencing failure in advance. If you have anxiety about initiating the project, you will associate risk with failure. Most things break, most ideas fail, most initiatives don’t succeed. Zig Ziglar taught me this 20 years ago: make your schedule before you start, don’t allow setbacks, or blocks or anxiety to push you to say, "Hey, maybe I should check my e-mail for awhile." If you do that, the loser brain will soon be trained. \\ \\ Isaac Asimov wrote and published more than 400 books by typing non-stop from 6:00 a.m. to noon every day for 40 years. The first five years of my solo business, when the struggle seemed never ending, I never missed a day, never took a nap; in short - show up. \\ \\ The upside for you is to find the energy and the will to challenge the mediocre. Look for the fear, that’s almost always the source of your doubt. Creative people, or those with something to say, believe that they have to wait to be chosen. Authors wait to be chosen by an agent and then a publisher. Entrepreneurs often find themselves waiting to be chosen by a venture capitalist or an investor. \\ \\ The system is the system; don’t mess with it. Successful organizations such as Apple, Google, Ideal, and Pixar are project-centric organizations. Each one of these organizations consists of groups of committed people who ship projects. No projects, no organization. After a project is shipped, there is no useful work until someone starts a new project.\\ \\ Inventing, choosing and sticking with or abandoning ideas is difficult. It begins with the initiator, the one who begins things. Stop waiting for a map. We reward those who draw maps, not those who follow them. Curiosity can start us down the path to shipping or bringing things to the world, to examining them, refining them and repeating the process again and again. \\ \\ If you have a chance to do a project, what would it be about? What have you discovered? What do you know? What can you teach? You should do one. Even if you don’t do one, you should be prepared to do one. Poking doesn’t mean might, it means action. \\ \\ There are two forces arguing for accepting the presented answers. The first force is the industrial age. The second force is the digital age. Initiative and starting are about seeing and trying. Starting means we are going to finish. If we don’t ship, we actually haven’t started anything at all. At some point, your work has to intersect with the market. At some point, you need feedback as to whether or not it worked. Otherwise, it’s merely a hobby. \\ \\ The essence of being human is to initiate, but we're not left to our own devices. We are smothered by parents, snubbed by peers, scolded by teachers, organized by authorities, hired by factories, and brainwashed relentlessly to cease any troublesome behavior. \\ \\ If you never fail, either you are really lucky or you haven’t shipped anything. Fail, succeed, fail, fail, fail, succeed - you get the idea. Talk to any successful person, and they will be happy to share with you their long string of failures. \\ \\ The greatest challenge any successful organization faces is finding the guts to risk that success in order to accomplish something great. Risking that success ultimately becomes the only way to accomplish something great. There is life before you ship, there is the moment you ship, and then there is life after you ship. \\ \\ Joy comes from surprise, connection, humanity, transparency and new. These are alien concepts in many places. Organize for joy, give people the freedom and they will create, connect and surprise. If you could build anything, what would you build? Start and then ship. \\ \\ According to Siddhartha Gautama, there are two mistakes one can make along the roads to truth - not going all the way and not starting.
